London East End with a Jewish Flavor

4 hour walking tour led by a local and experienced guide

Learn about Jewish culinary association – past and present – in this jam-packed historical walk through London’s East End. While exploring the streets, your guide will help you discover stories of Jewish produce wholesalers and a notable soup kitchen, before you wander among the colorful stalls of the bustling Spitalfields Market. You can taste the local take on everyone’s favorite carb-based delight, beigels, as they’re known on Brick Lane, and learn how one shop has become a veritable institution.

You will also discover Ottolenghi. This contemporary restaurant – established by renowned Israeli chef and cookbook author of the same name, alongside Palestinian chef Sami Tamimi – mingles Middle Eastern flavors to create some of the most delectable, mouth-watering dishes around.

Your morning ends with a treat: an exclusive tour of H. Forman & Son, a fourth-generation, family-run East London business established in 1905. The story of this celebrated salmon smokery, including fire, floods and demolition, is truly fascinating, and you will hear all about it – before watching a demonstration of salmon slicing by the World Record Holder and enjoying a delicious sampling of cured delights.
