Join Milk & Honey Tours as we embark on an unforgettable journey through Jewish Poland from April 28th – May 5th 2019. For over a millennium, Poland was the cradle of Ashkenazi Jewish civilization. Today, 75 years after the Nazi genocide and 30 years after the fall of Soviet Communist rule, Jewish life is undergoing a remarkable rebirth.

Tour the POLIN Museum, a jewel of the modern Jewish community in Warsaw, which chronicles the entirety of Jewish culture in Poland. You will get to visit the Nozyk Synagogue, the only synagogue in Warsaw to survive the Holocaust. We’ll wander the Okopowa Street Cemetery, one of the largest and most important Jewish cemeteries in the world. We’ll see some lesser-known small town synagogues that have survived and live to tell their story. These are just a few of the destinations we’ll visit to bring the picture of Polish Jewry into greater focus.

Our group will dive into the details and ask the experts – from lectures from academics and scholars to special private viewings at Jewish museums, this is the tour for those seeking both the grand highlights and small contours, which meet to form an in-depth exploration of the Jewish story in Poland. Our group will be led by none other than Rabbi Dr. Walter Rothschild, the current Liberal Rabbi of Warsaw, renowned for his writings on Judaism and for his expertise in promoting dialogue between Jewish, German, and Polish groups.

In Krakow we'll arrive at highlight of the tour – when we join the March of Living on a walk from Auschwitz to Birkenau. This is a wholly unique experience in which we join hundreds of participants in a journey of remembrance, taking time to understand more fully both the horrors of the Holocaust and the remarkable resurgence of Jewish culture. This section includes talks by people intimately familiar with the site and the importance of the march. While in Krakow, we'll also explore the amazingly well-preserved synagogues, Jewish quarter, and former ghetto.
